Tino Jr., Marcos, Martha (Eugene-Florentino, Marcos-Antonio, Ellen-Martha) Los Angeles, California (Affectionately recorded in history on the back of this photo by our Dad, Florentino Akiaten) |
|
Story as recalled by Marcos Antonio Akiaten: "We were all living at 217 North Figueroa. We lived in the basement. There was a small bathroom, kitchen, a murphy bed (that Gene and I slept in). There were two sofas. Daddy slept in one, and Mom and Ellen (who we called Martha back then), slept in the other one. Shirley was very very sick back then. Momma said she had the "whooping cough". I remember Shirley bleeding from the nose. It was scary. She slept in a crib, in the middle of the room, between the murphy bed and Mom's sofa. The actal photo was taken on a Satuday, in the dirt parking lot of where we lived. And we're actually on the side of a car, which is in the background. Mom was with Shirley inside the apartment when the picture was taken. Dad took it, Johnny (Vios our Godfather) and Grandpa Luna were with him." |
